For BBC Radio, plays include: In the Keep Net, Dear Brother…, Old Man Goya, Three Days that Shook the World, A Chaos of Wealth and Want, serial dramatisation of Shadow Baby and adaptations of Wole Soyinka’s Death and the King’s Horseman and Howard Brenton’s Bloody Poetry.
Penny is the Literary Consultant for the Royal Shakespeare Company and does extensive work for several theatre companies. She began her career working for the director John Barton at the RSC. Since then, she has been an editor and producer for BBC Television and Film and a commissioning editor/producer/director for BBC Radio Drama. She has also been a theatre literary manager and continues to do dramaturgical work for several companies. She has been on the board of the Soho Theatre and others and is currently on the board of Kali, the Asian women’s company.
